Readers All and Drone Cadets recently launched STEM Read Aloud Day, a signature event designed to blend the magic of storytelling with the innovation of STEM education. To start the day, Tony Reid, Co-Founder of Drone Cadets and author of The Adventures of Panda the Drone Safety Bear, read his book in front of an eager group of young scholars.
From the moment the reading began, imaginations soar. Our scholars are not only captivated by the story of Panda the Drone Safety Bear, but also absorb valuable lessons on safety, responsibility, and the possibilities that drone technology can unlock. Following the read-aloud, our scholars participate in a hands-on drone activity where they get to experience flight training, learn the basics of drone operation, and explore how drones are used in real-world settings: from rescue missions during hurricane seasons, to creative arts and environmental monitoring.
Below is a recap of our 2025 STEM Read Aloud Day.
Through our ongoing partnership with Drone Cadets, we’re planting seeds of innovation and imagination, cultivating the next generation of engineers. STEM Read Aloud Day is a spark to curiosity for the Principles of Physics as our scholars learn about Newton’s Laws of Motion, aerodynamics, and propulsion. This day marks more than just an introduction to STEM. It’s an invitation to dream, build, and explore a world of endless possibilities.
Early exposure to STEM is vital to developing a lifelong love of learning and curiosity and nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills from an early age. It helps students connect classroom concepts to real-world applications, making education more meaningful and engaging. STEM experiences also encourage students to ask questions, explore ideas, and experiment without fear of failure. Furthermore, the collaborative nature of STEM helps children develop essential social skills, learn effective communication skills, and build confidence in their abilities.
Through opportunities like this partnership, we are ensuring that all students, regardless of their background, have access to the tools and resources they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving, tech-driven world. Ultimately, STEM exposure isn’t just about preparing kids for a job, it’s about empowering them to shape the future and reach their highest potential.
